What is Dieselgate?

‘Dieselgate’ is one of the most widespread cases of public deception ever, and the biggest mis-selling scandal since PPI.
Government agencies working to regulate vehicle emissions discovered that several big names in the car manufacturing industry – such as Volkswagen (VW), Audi, BMW, and many more – had illegally installed ‘defeat devices’ into their cars to cheat emissions testing. These devices were designed to mislead environmental regulators into approving high-polluting vehicles for sale.

Should I make a diesel emissions claim?

Making a diesel emissions claim is no win, no fee, so there are no downsides to checking your eligibility. Millions of vehicle owners have already received their cash pay-out, and with up to £10,000 compensation available, it’s worth checking whether or not you qualify.

While many car and van buyers make their claims to reap the financial rewards, lots of disgruntled customers are making diesel emissions claims to ensure that shady manufacturers are held accountable for their actions.

Making a claim today is a powerful way for customers to take a stand against corporate cover-ups that seek to exploit systems and harm the environment, all in the name of making a profit.

How much compensation am I entitled to?

In May 2022, Volkswagen agreed to a £193 million settlement to compensate Diesel vehicle buyers.
They paid billions in government-enforced fines, and they bought back over half a million vehicles.

This established a precedent, and now more and more car manufacturers
are having to pay up as a consequence of their actions.

Many of these companies have already paid out millions of pounds to their customers.

FAQs

Which car manufacturers are involved in the Dieselgate scandal?
Our 30 second form will let you know instantly if your car or van was mis-sold.
Can I make my diesel claim for a second-hand vehicle?
Yes. It doesn't matter how many owners your car has had. The car was still mis-sold as more environmentally friendly than it actually was, and you are therefore entitled to compensation.
Do I still need to own the car for my diesel claim to be eligible?
No. As long as you can prove you owned the car, it doesn't matter whether or not you have sold it or scrapped it. In some cases, this can add to the value of your claim, as the Dieselgate scandal reduced car resale value.
Can my diesel claim cover multiple vehicles?
You can make a claim for every diesel vehicle you owned, but each individual diesel emissions claim must be kept separate and registered individually.  For each vehicle, you will receive separate communications and requests for information. Be sure to check the case reference and VRN to avoid mixing up your claims.
